A Sorlier rendering of Chagall’s original print The Magician of Paris (1969, #597 in Lithographs IV, 1969-1973, Sorlier, 1974), the poster was so popular that two printings were required due to the exhibition's success and the wear on the lithographic stones. In this enchanting image, Chagall portrays himself as a magician, offering a beautiful bouquet of flowers to his beloved Paris. The city’s landmarks appear below him, while a crowd of people witnesses the magic of his gesture.
