Ballet & Dances Classical
Description:
In 1974, the Royal Ballet created and choreographed the ballet "Manon" based on the novel "Manon Lescaut" by Ave Prevot. The story is about a beautiful girl, Manon, and the whirlwind of love and jealousy that surrounds her. Although the story is a doomed one in which no one is happy, the dramatic development and acrobatic choreography of the ballet have attracted many ballet fans. The music is composed from various works by Massenet, who also composed an opera based on the same story, and newly orchestrated by Martin Yates, resulting in a very refined and unified work. The classical costumes, the simple contrast between the elegant Paris and the cold Louisiana swamps where Manon and De Grieve fled to in America, the moving pas de deux in Act III by the popular duo of Sarah Lam and Vadim Muntagirov, and our own Ryoichi Hirano as Lescaut in the brothel in Act II are all very refined and unified. Ryoichi Hirano's drunken performance as Lescaut in the Act II brothel was highly acclaimed. Naxos Japan
