Takahashi Yuji
Description:
Following Montpauw (FOCD9346) and Busoni (FOCD9347), this is a series of works by Yuji Takahashi that "look back on the currents pushed by the times and recall the visions that disappeared around the bend. This time it is a collection of Bartók's early piano pieces. Bartók was a piano virtuoso who competed with Backhaus for the first prize at the Rubinstein Competition, and the piano instrument played an important role in his compositional activities. He continued to write important works for the piano throughout his life. The five works on this CD were all written during the "basic experimental period" from 1908 to 1913. Takahashi views these piano pieces as follows: "Bartók became Bartók. In the wounded heart and wandering music before Bartók became Bartók, I hear possibilities lost in later centuries, the art of the minority" Yuji Takahashi. Even now, at 70 years of age, his progressive activities defy the madness of the times. [comments courtesy of Fontek]---.
