If you've been looking for a lovely personal or presentation copy of Bunyan's immortal tale, or just an exceptional example to add to the personal collection, this is a gem. Bound in finest morocco, divinity calf by J. Wright with five raised bands, beautifully tooled near-matching front and rear panels, board edges and dentils blind-tooled and then a superbly preserved basket-weave gauffered forege on all three sides of the text block.
Also includes engravings finely executed on separate sheets by Thomas Stothard. They just don't come much nicer than this.
Bunyan, John. The Pilgrim's Progress: In Two Parts. With Original Notes by Thomas Scott. Twelfth Edition, Including the Poetry Hitherto Omitted. London. Henry G. Bohn. 1857. 476pp.
Very good condition, very faint clouding to front board and light rubbing. A few very scattered spots of foxing. Else, an exceptional copy.
