According to Thai mythology, angels rode atop the backs of magnificent magical creatures called Hoongsas. The Hoongsa was a cross between a dragon and a swan and flew between heaven and the pristine forests of Earth.
They are typically placed on a wall near a door or a window. Place it so good fortune is coming into the room and not flying out! When a replica of a Hoongsa is given as a gift, it is thought to bring good luck and blessings.
Hand-carve in Chiang-Mai and given an antique finish with mineral pigments.
